VSMU students take part in 2018 Students’ Environmental Congress

Stec 2018 1On 11-12 November 2018, the Chemical Faculty of the Belarusian State University in Minsk hosted 2018 Students’ Ecological Congress. 3rd-year students of Pharmaceutical Faculty Levchenko Ivan, Prokopenko Daria, and Sokolovskaya Lyudmila, and 2nd-year students of OSTF Volid Amani, Raniz Mohammed Aakib - members of Students’ Scientific Circle of the Department of general, physical and colloid chemistry of VSMU – took part in the work of the Congress. The scientific supervisor of the student team was Z.S. Kuntsevich, the head of the Department of general, physical, and colloid chemistry.

Students of Pharmaceutical Faculty I. Levchenko, D. Prokopenko, L. Sokolovskaya won the contest “Eco-ideas of your University”, having presented the VSMU eco-idea “Production of ecologically clean products from plant materials using alternative methods of harvesting and processing” to the strict jury, and received the maximum score from each of 12-members’ jury for defensing their eco-ideas. They were awarded the Diploma as winners of the “Eco-ideas of your University” competition and the Certificate to visit the UE “Unidragmet BSU” laboratory.
The above-named students also spoke at the plenary session of the scientific conference "Ecologization of educational process and eco-cooperation among young people" with presentations: "Ecological aspects of the use of dietary supplements" (Prokopenko D.M., Sokolovskaya L.V.), "Human Ecology and advertising of medicines: historical aspect of problem” (I.A. Levchenko).

OSTF students’ report of Volid Amani and Raniz Mohammed Aakib "Medicinal plants of Sri Lanka" was recognized as the best in the "International Eco-Cooperation and Culture" section with the Diploma awarded.

The organizers of 2018 Students’ Ecological Congress expressed great gratitude to the rector of VSMU A.T. Shchastny, for effective work in supporting student initiatives, creating conditions for implementation of eco-ideas, and conducting scientific environmental research.
