Customs duties paid when getting parcels in Belarus

The new norm of free receipt of parcels at the post-offices of the Republic of Belarus is working starting from the 14th of April, 2016. One person is allowed to get the property costing not more than 22 Euros and weighing up to 10 kilograms without payment. Parcels breaking the established limit are also allowed, but the exceeding amount is liable to customs duties and the payment of the fixed customs duties is also compulsory in this case.

These limitations are fixed in the Order of the President of the Republic of Belarus № 40 dated 11.02.2016.

 Payments for parcels to private persons exceeding the established limit are maid as commercial batches of goods. At present time the amount of the customs duties is 30% from the price (in most cases); the amount of customs duties depends on the type of goods, for example, payment for phone is 5 Euros.

Such calculation can be visualized as a simple arithmetic question:

  • Price of the parcel: 100 Euros;
  • The amount of exceeding the limit: 100 - 22 = 78 Euros;
  • 30% from 78 Euros = 23.4 Euros;
  • Customs duties – 5 Euros;
  • Total: 23.4 + 5 = 28.4 Euros.

In case of exceeding the limit by weight, but not at the price, the calculation is even simpler: 4 Euros for each kilogram exceeding the 10 allowed kilograms.

Do not order the delivery of your parcel by various non-state delivery services such as UPS, DHL or FedEx, because in this case if the parcel costs more than 10 Euros you will have to get customs clearance yourself at the customs office at the airport, fill in huge number of papers and spend a lot of time on it.
