Diwali Kalai Vizha 2022

Dilwai Kalai Vizha organised by the Medical Stidents Hindu Society of SLMSU was held on 29th of October 2022 at the Palace of Culture of Railway Workers. Cultural Dean Maria Alexeevna, Lubov Orekhova – Department of Public Health, Dr.Denesh Nithiyanandadeva, students from Srilankan and Indian communities as well as form different nationalities were present there for the event.

The event started with lightning of the oil lamp. The special invitees were called upon the stage to light the traditional oil lamp. After that the welcome speech was given by the committee members of the Hindu Society. There were many colourful events such as dance items, solo and group singing, showcasing of traditional and fusion items were performed by various groups of Sri Lankan students community and Indian students community. As usual Mixfeeds and Thakalis gave notable great performances.

“Faster, Higher, Stronger”

As part of the festival program “Student Autumn of VSMU – 2022”, there was a competition called “Faster, Higher, Stronger”, in which teams from all faculties of the university competed. In an exciting and uncompromising game, the Stomatological Faculty became the winners, the second place went to the team of FOST, the Pharmaceutical Faculty was awarded the third place. Our festival is gaining momentum!

Shooting of the Qualifying Stage of the TV Project “Star Way”

On October 22, 2022, there was a shooting of the qualifying stage of the large-scale TV project “Star Way” which took place at the film studio “Belarusfilm” in Minsk. Vitebsk region was honorably represented by a student of our university, Randeniya Devin Chandula Felishion. Marina Shitkova, a graduate of our university, also takes part in the project.

Devin and Marina performed as a duet, singing the song “Rain Castle”. The duo's mentor is Valery Shmat, Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus, composer, organist, leader of the Art Group “The Belarusians”.

Videoconference with Heilongjiang Province (China)

On September 22, 2022, an online conference on contacts and cooperation between Heilongjiang province and Vitebsk region in the field of education was held, it was dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the establishment of sister city relations between Harbin and Vitebsk.

Navarathri Poojai-2022

The Navarathri poojai 2022 was held at the hostel No.2 Akthovizal on Saturday the 1st of October, 2022. It was organized by the Medical Students’ Hindu Society, of the Sri Lankan Medical Students’ Union.

The Pooja is held in order to celebrate and worship goddesses who are responsible for 3 aspects in a person’s life; Goddess Durga who is for bravery, Goddess Lakshmi for riches and Goddess Saraswati for education. Navarathri Poojai is observed by Hindus for 9 days from 26th September to 5th October.

Participation of foreign students of VSMU in a charity event dedicated to the International Day of the Elderly

On the 30th of September, for the first time, a few members of the Sri Lankan dance group "Mixfeeds" were honored to take part in the event "Life in the Style of Dance" organized by the State Institution "Territorial Center for Social Services for the Population of the Pervomaisky District of Vitebsk". The event was filled with a variety of colorful and energetic performances from the Belarusian elders. "Mixfeeds" contributed to the event with a bollywood performance that ended with a roaring applaud from the senior audience.
