Dear veterans, staff and students of the University!

I cordially congratulate you on the 81st anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War!

Victory Day is one of the main moral landmarks of our history. Every Belarusian family lives in the memory of the heroes who gave us a peaceful future and the opportunity to live in a free, independent country.

The Great Patriotic War will forever remain a symbol of indomitable will, fraternal unity and the unparalleled feat of our people. We bow our heads to those who defended their native land at the cost of their lives at the front, in partisan detachments and in the underground.

This sacred holiday reminds us of our high responsibility to preserve peace and historical truth. We must preserve the legacy of the victorious generation, pass on the truth about that war, and resist any attempts to rewrite history. Our strength lies only in solidarity and unity.

May the sky over our Motherland always be peaceful and cloudless!

Happy Great Victory Day!

On May 8, 2026, Alexey Chukanov, Rector of VSMU, met with teachers and students who had achieved high results in sports, creative and educational activities.

On May 8, 2026, employees, students, members of the creative teams of the university and the VSMU Youth for Family Values project, and volunteers organized a charity concert "No One is Forgotten, Nothing is Forgotten" for residents of the Vitebsk Social Boarding House on the Dvina. 

On May 7, VSMU joined the International Scientific and Practical Conference "They forged victory! Medical workers during the Great Patriotic War".

On May 8, 2026, on the eve of Victory Day, university staff and students, including representatives of public associations and organizations, took part in a solemn laying of flowers and wreaths at the monument to the Heroes of the Vitebsk Underground, as well as in a rally dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, which took place at the military burials on Uspenskaya Hill.
