On January 29, 2026, as part of the Vitebsk Region Regional Student Youth Forum, Alexey Chukanov, Rector of VSMU, met with students of the Novopolotsk City Lyceum.

The dialogue was informative and constructive. The lyceum students showed great interest and asked several topical questions regarding educational programs, the university’s scientific and practical activities, and student life.

On January 29, 2026, the final of the regional stage of the Republican "Student of the Year" competition took place in Novopolotsk.

The top 10 students from the region competed for the main title, having earned their right to participate through selection at their universities.

Based on the results of the competitive tests, the jury identified the three winners, among whom was Maria Kren, a student of VSMU, who secured 3rd place.

On January 28, 2026, the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Belarus approved the PhD thesis of Yuri Eduardovich Rozin, Senior Lecturer of the branch of the Departments of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (with a course in the Faculty of Advanced training and Staff Retraining) and Hospital Surgery (also with a course in Faculty of Advanced training and Staff Retraining). His scientific supervisor is Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, and Head of the Department of Pediatric Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at Belarusian State Medical University, Kulagin Alexey Evgenievich.
