On December 9, 2024, a meeting was held between the Rector of Vitebsk State Medical University Alexey Chukanov and the VSMU team, which represented the university at the VII International Student Surgery Olympiad, which was held from December 4 to 6 in Novosibirsk.

The VSMU team took part in the VII International Student Olympiad in Surgery, which was held on December 4-6, 2024, within the walls of the Novosibirsk State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. Teams from the Khanty-Mansiysk State Medical Academy, Lugansk State Medical University, Samara Medical University "Reaviz", Osh State University (Osh, Kyrgyzstan), Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan) also took part in the Olympiad.

From 4 to 6, 2024, 5 students of the Faculty of Medicine took part in the X International Youth Medical Congress "St. Petersburg Scientific Readings - 2024", held at the First St. Petersburg State Medical University named after Academician I.P. Pavlov.

The scientific work of the 3rd year students of the Faculty of Medicine Kushchina M.K. and Ladik N.O. "Correlation relationship between the levels of the Cxcl12 gene and microRNA-3558-3p involved in the process of cell migration from the bone marrow under conditions of experimental liver fibrosis" (supervisor – the Associate Professor of the Department of Histology, Cytology and Embryology Lebedeva E.I.) took first place and was recognized as one of the best. The 6th year student Belyaeva D.A. received a 3rd degree diploma. The 4th and 6th year students Kizimenko A.A. and Nesterenok A.I. received participant certificates.

On December 9, 2024, as part of the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Genocide, the students and teachers of VSMU visited places of mourning and grief - the memorial complexes "Three Bayonets" and "Fifth Regiment". Those present honored the memory of the dead with a minute of silence and laid flowers at the graves of the dead and tortured prisoners of war and civilians.
