Dear colleagues, congratulations on this wonderful anniversary - the 90th anniversary of the university's foundation! This is a time filled with achievements, discoveries and outstanding personalities who have made an invaluable contribution to the development of medicine and healthcare.

On October 24, 2024, the head of the Department of Evidence-Based Medicine and Clinical Diagnostics of the Faculty of Advanced Training and Preparatory Studies, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor I.V. Zhiltsov gave an open lecture to the 4th-year students of the Faculty of Medicine on the topic "Assessment of the clinical significance of diagnostic tests from the standpoint of evidence-based medicine".

On October 24, 2024, the head of the department of social and humanitarian sciences, candidate of philosophical sciences, associate professor Kulik Svyatoslav Pavlovich gave an open lecture to the 3rd year students of the medical faculty on the topic "Moral guidelines of medicine and medical education".

The lecture covered the issues of the uniqueness of medicine as knowledge and activity. The goals and moral guidelines of medicine, as well as the existential and social status of the value of life and health were revealed.

The lecturer focused on the moral and social guidelines of medicine and health care in the Republic of Belarus. The key areas of activity of the Belarusian state in health care were presented. The place of Belarus in international ratings for the development of health care was reflected. Summing up, S.P. Kulik drew attention to the fact that medicine and medical workers should remain among those few moral "islands" of modern existence, where the values ​​of life and health act as a moral guideline for professional activity.

On October 24, 2024, within the framework of the XXIV International Scientific and Practical Conference of Students and Young Scientists "Student Medical Science of the XXI Century", the meetings of 14 sections were held in the auditoriums of VSMU and at the clinical sites of Vitebsk.

The conference was attended by the students of VSMU, all medical universities of the Republic of Belarus, as well as the students of medical universities of Smolensk, Novosibirsk, Moscow, Ryazan, Petrozavodsk, Penza, Volgograd, Kazan and St. Petersburg. The conference participants made scientific reports and presented their scientific data.
