From June 1 to June 5, 2026, Gomel hosted the boxing championship of the Republic of Belarus among youth under 23 years of age. Angelina Gizovskaya, a 2nd-year student of the Stomatological Faculty, took 1st place in the 48 kg weight category.

On March 21, 2026, the final of the national selection for the XXXV International Pop Song Contest "Vitebsk" was held in Postavy, Belarus’s cultural capital for 2026. Ten of the best vocalists from across the country competed for the opportunity to perform on the legendary stage of Slavyansky Bazar.
Ekaterina Dyakova, a student at Vitebsk State Medical University and a future pharmacist, is among the finalists. Combining her studies at the pharmaceutical faculty of VSMU with classes at the folk pop song studio "Tandem" (led by Ekaterina Palagot), she managed to impress the strict jury.
The primary trade union organizations of VSMU employees and students organized a trip called "The Heart of Novgorod" to one of the oldest cities in Russia. The journey brought together history and culture enthusiasts from among teachers, staff, and students.
The excursion began with a car tour of the Novgorod region. The first stop was the Yuriev Monastery, followed by a visit to the open-air museum of wooden architecture, "Vitoslavlitsy," where visitors saw ancient huts filled with authentic peasant household items. Next, participants enjoyed a walking tour of the Novgorod Kremlin.
From June 24 to June 28, 2024, the university is holding a “Zero Injury Week” on the topic: “Prevention of violations of labor protection requirements in engineering and technical departments and business services of the organization.”
In the administrative and economic part, the largest number of works with increased danger are performed (work at height, with equipment operating under excess pressure, hot work, loading and unloading work, etc.).
From September 25 to September 29, 2023 at the university the «Week of Vision Zero» is held.
The purpose of the «Week of Vision Zero» is to ensure the safety and health of workers at the workplace, prevent cases of industrial injuries at the university, aimed at rapid detection of violations of labour protection standards and development and application of measures to eliminate them.
On June 18, 2026, Alexey Chukanov, Rector of the University, member of the Presidium of the Vitebsk City Council of Deputies, took part in the regional stage of the republican contest "Lord of the Village", which was co-organized by the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union with the support of our university.
On June 26, 2026, Alexey Chukanov, Rector of VSMU, took part in the XIII Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia as part of the delegation of the Rector's corps.
The thematic sections and the plenary session are devoted to a detailed discussion of key areas of union integration.
From September 23 to 26, students and staff of VSMU, as part of the delegation from the Vitebsk region, participated in the events of the All-Russian rally "Ambassadors of Victory. Smolensk." This rally was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the liberation of Smolensk from the german-fascist occupation, and the 40th anniversary of Smolensk being awarded the title of "Hero City."
1On 16 May 2019, Indian Ambassador, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of India to the Republic of Belarus, Mrs. Sanghita Bahadur, paid a visit to VSMU.
During this visit, Ms. Ambassador got acquainted with arrangement and material and technical facilities of our university, the organization of educational process in the departments of human anatomy and clinical microbiology, visited the anatomical museum.
